PVOH, also referred to as polyvinyl alcohol, is a water-soluble synthetic polymer valued for its film-forming capability, adhesion, and chemical stability. Produced through the controlled hydrolysis of polyvinyl acetate, PVOH properties can be tailored by adjusting molecular weight and hydrolysis degree. It is extensively used in packaging films, textile sizing, paper coatings, construction adhesives, and specialty chemical formulations. PVOH films provide effective oxygen barrier performance, making them suitable for food and pharmaceutical packaging.
