In the textile industry, PVA serves as a critical warp sizing agent, improving yarn performance during weaving. When applied to cotton, polyester, or blended yarns, PVA forms a protective film around fibers, increasing tensile strength by 30–50% and reducing breakage in high-speed looms. Its film-forming properties also enhance yarn smoothness, decreasing friction and improving weaving efficiency. After weaving, PVA sizing is easily removed by washing, leaving fabrics soft and breathable. PVA’s solubility in water (adjustable by DH) allows customization for different fiber types: fully hydrolyzed PVA (99% DH) for high-strength requirements, and partially hydrolyzed (88% DH) for cold-water removal. This makes PVA indispensable in producing high-quality fabrics for apparel, home textiles, and technical applications.
