PVA excels in film applications due to its clarity, strength, and versatility. Water-soluble PVA films (DH 87-89%) are used in detergent pods, dissolving in washing machines at 20-40°C. Fully hydrolyzed PVA 2488 forms durable, water-resistant films for agricultural mulch and industrial coatings, with tensile strength exceeding 60 MPa. For food packaging, PVA films block oxygen (permeability <0.1 cc/film·day) and water vapor (≤5 g/film·day), extending shelf life. In 3D printing, PVA serves as a water-soluble support structure, dissolving in 5-10% NaOH solutions. Electrospun PVA films find use in medical dressings, leveraging their biocompatibility and moisture absorption. Additionally, crosslinked PVA films enhance oil resistance for automotive interior coatings.
