Ammonium persulfate is an ammonium salt with the chemical formula (NH4)2S2O8 and a molecular weight of 228.201, which is highly oxidizing and corrosive. Ammonium persulfate is widely used in the battery industry. It is also used as a polymerization initiator, fiber industry desizing agent, and can be used as a metal and semiconductor material surface treatment agent, printed circuit etching agent, also widely used in oil reservoir fracturing, flour and starch processing industry, oil industry, used to remove the waves in the photographic industry.

Polymerization Initiator

Ammonium persulfate generates SO₄⁻· free radicals through thermal decomposition, which efficiently initiates the chain polymerization of vinyl monomers. It is the core initiator for emulsion polymerization and water-soluble polymer synthesis. Its advantages are environmental protection, economy and pH/temperature adaptability, but the dosage must be precisely controlled (0.01%–1%) to avoid side reactions.


Oxidant

The core value of ammonium persulfate ((NH₄) ₂S₂O₈) as an oxidant lies in its unique chemical properties - strong oxidizing property, free radical generating ability and stability.

Wastewater Treatment
